Child Star...Doomed from the start?
Lindsay Lohan was starring in commercials by the time she was three. She got her first big movie role in The Parent Trap. Unlike other child stars her career soared and she went on to star in hits like Feaky Friday, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen and my personal favorite Mean Girls:
Unfortunately, child stars seem to follow a similar path: quick shot to fame and then quick descent into drug and alcohol abuse and then complete oblivion...and sadly for some...death.

Once Lyndsay's fame peaked she seemed addicted to the spotlight and soon realized the best way to stay in the tabloids was to befriend the ones that were in them. In 2007, the paprazzi went crazy over Lindsay and Paris Hilton becoming BFFs and almost exploded when they say Lindsay, Paris, and Britney Spears in the same car:

Since 2007 Lindsay has stayed in multiple rehab facilities for her alcohol and drug abuse. Pictures of her partying are all over the internet.
Your 20's are for partying but her partying has put lives at risk. Her second DUI arrest involved her chasing down her ex assisant's mother. The mother made a frantic 911 call that led to Lindsay's arrest.
Once Lindsay was taken into custody, police found cocaine in her pocket. Her mugshot will forever be remembered but it would be one of many more to come.

Almost as famous as Lindsay is her parents Dina and Michael Lohan. Dina and Lindsay used to be seen making their rounds at clubs together.
As for her father, he has been in and out of prison and never misses an opportunity to use his daughter for publicity. He even told the world on twitter that his daughter has aids!
With parents like these, it makes sense why she has had such trouble with addiction, obeying the law, and having a normal, stable life.

Lindsay's Future
Lindsay has been given chance after chance to turn her life around but she keeps messing it up. Recently she has violated her probation from her DUI arrests several times by not showing up for court, failing drug tests, and stealing. It seems like every year she comes out and talks about how she is "different now" and she has "finally learned a lesson" and she will never touch drugs or alcohol again.

It is hard to believe that this time she is serious about sobriety when she hasn't been for years. But she has been taking and passing drug and alcohol tests for the last few months and she is even set to star in a major movie. She is being given another chance and hopefully she will take advantage of it and appreciate what she has.

Hypothesis
If Lindsay Lohan wants to stay sober then she has to want it. She has to stay out of clubs, get rid of friends that bring her down, and surround herself with people who want the best for her so that one day she can go back to the girl that everyone loves.
